Canisius Zoological Society
The Canisius Zoological Society is a campus club for people who want to engage in nature-focused service activities. This organization embraces all members of the Canisius College community (students, faculty, staff, alumni, and family members).
The Canisius Zoological Society coordinates two service events each semester, one local and one more distant. Examples include animal-enrichment projects at our local zoo and aquarium, and habitat restoration projects at our nearby wildlife refuge. The more-distant events take the form of ecotourism with embedded service components. Recent CZS trips have been to Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado and to Monterey Bay in California.
These events are fun and educational at the same time. More than that, the built-in service elements make the experiences all the more fulfilling as the participants get to see the benefit that they provide.
