The quality of a Canisius College education is consistently recognized by respected publications and college ranking lists, including the following:
Accounting Graduates No. 2 in New York
Graduates of the Canisius accounting program, annually one of the nation’s best programs, had the 2nd highest undergraduate pass rate in New York State for institutions with 21-60 candidates. The pass rate was 78 percent among Canisius graduates.
Overall Graduate School Acceptance Rates
Ninety-two percent of the Canisius students who apply to graduate school are accepted.
Canisius College Named a "Catholic College of Distinction"
Canisius College is a 2012 “Catholic College of Distinction,” according to the annual Colleges of Distinction guidebook. Each year, the publication identifies 200 or more colleges and universities that excel at “the pillars of a strong and active undergraduate education.” Criteria for the “College of Distinction” recognition includes the ways in which undergraduate institutions engage students, provide outstanding teaching, offer vibrant communities, and produce successful outcomes.
Graduate School Acceptance Rate for Law and Medical Schools
Nine of 10 Canisius students who apply to law and medical schools are accepted.

US News & World Report “America’s Best Colleges” |
US News & World Report “Top Online Education Degree Programs”
The Canisius College Online Graduate Program in Education ranked high in U.S. News & World Report’s first-ever ranking of top online education degree programs. Canisius scored well in the categories of Teaching Practices and Student Engagement and Student Services and Technology among others.
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Best Value Private University
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance named Canisius College one of the nation’s best values among private universities for 2011-12. Canisius is the only private college in Western New York to rank in Kiplinger’s top 100 private universities. Only 13 of the 114 private colleges and universities in New York State made the list.
GI Jobs Magazine Lauds Canisius as “Military Friendly”
Canisius received the designation “military friendly” from GI Jobs Magazine. The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
Forbes America’s Top Colleges
Canisius was named to Forbes’ 2011 ranking of the 650 best undergraduate institutions for quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt.
2011 National Survey of Student Engagement
Canisius earned high marks from its student body in the 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement. Ninety-three percent of freshman students reported a favorable image of the college and felt that Canisius demonstrated a substantial commitment to academic and social successes. Eighty-five percent of seniors said they would choose Canisius College again, if they had to start their college career over.
