The Canisius College Online Graduate Program in Education ranked high in U.S. News & World Report’s first-ever ranking of top online education degree programs. 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE)
Canisius earned high marks from its student body in the 2011 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE). Ninety-three percent (93 %) of freshman students reported a favorable image of the college and felt that Canisius demonstrated a substantial commitment to academic and social successes. Eighty-five percent (85 %) of seniors said they would choose Canisius College again, if they had to start their college career over.
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Best Value Private University
Kiplinger’s Personal Finance named Canisius College one of the nation’s best values among private universities for 2011-12. Canisius is the only private college in Western New York to rank in Kiplinger’s top 100 private universities. Only 13 of the 114 private colleges and universities in New York State made the list.
GI Jobs Magazine Lauds Canisius as “Military Friendly”
Canisius received the designation “military friendly” from GI Jobs Magazine. The 2012 Military Friendly Schools list honors the top 20 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to embrace America’s military service members and veterans as students.
Forbes America’s Top Colleges
Canisius was named to Forbes’ 2011 ranking of the 650 best undergraduate institutions for quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates and low levels of debt.
Canisius A Top Fulbright Scholarship School
In 2007-2008, Canisius tied for fifth nationwide in the number of students receiving prestigious Fulbright scholarships. The rankings were published by The Chronicle of Higher Education. Kaplan’s Most Interesting Schools
Canisius was included on Kaplan’s list of “America’s 367 Most Interesting Schools” in Newsweek’s “America’s Hottest Colleges” 2006 edition. Colleges are chosen based on criteria such as academic strengths, student body and specialty programs.
Carnegie Communications Study
Canisius was ranked among the top 25 colleges in the Northeast by a study released in 2004 by Carnegie Communications. The survey of nearly 4,000 college-bound high school students compared the ranking criteria of the nation’s ranking leader, US News and World Report, with what students, the primary consumers of higher education, feel are the appropriate weights.
Middle States Accredited
Canisius College’s regional accreditation was reaffirmed in 2005 by the Middle States Association Commission on Higher Education. The college received special commendation on four standards: for clearly affirming its Catholic and Jesuit mission and identity; for the leadership of its Board of Trustees in strategic planning; for the stability of its senior administration; and for being a campus “welcoming to all religions.”
The Middle States Commission on Higher Education, 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104 (267-284-5000) is an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Secretary of Education for accrediting activities in the Middle States region. 
NCATE Accredited
The Canisius College School of Education and Human Services is accreditated by the National Council Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The agency praised the school for “displaying the high quality necessary to be granted national accreditation” and noted that its programs “met rigorous standards set forth by the education community.” The U.S. Department of Education recognizes NCATE as a specialized accrediting body for schools, colleges and departments of education. Accreditation was awarded in 2005 and re-affirmed in 2010.
