Service Opportunities: Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical, Christian housing organization. Habitat works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The Canisius Chapter of Habitat for Humanity partners with Habitat for Humanity Buffalo most Saturdays of the school year.
Meals on Wheels

Service Opportunities: Meals on Wheels for Western New York, Inc. is an independent nonprofit agency supporting the dignity, well-being and independence of the homebound elderly and disabled through home delivered nutrition programs.
Meals on Wheels of WNY and Canisius College Campus Ministry partner together at the Delores Nelson Site on Brunswick Boulevard in the Hamlin Park section of Buffalo.

-K-12 Tutors: at Buffalo Kensington Corps, 21 Westminster, Buffalo, NY 14215, September - June, Monday/Wednesday/Friday, 3 PM - 6 PM. Homework help with youth.
-GED Tutors: at Buffalo Area Services, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM. Tutors are needed to assist in five academic areas: Reading, Writing, Math, Social Studies and Science.
-Department Assistant: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM, occasional nights & weekends, can work around class/work schedule. Work one-on-one with the Development Department at Buffalo Area Services to build relationships in the community. Duties include marketing, general office work and event planning.
Homeless Street Feeding
-Steet Feeding: Ellicott Street, under the Buffalo and Erie County Library Bridge, October - April, Mondays, 5 PM - 6:30 PM. Feed the homeless weekly.
Red Kettle Campaign
-Team Leaders: Various locations, November - December, Monday - Saturday, 10 AM - 9 PM. Organize and lead a group of bell ringers.

Framing Hope Warehouse
-Sorters: The Framing Hope Warehouse, 635 South Park Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14210. The Service Collaborative of WNY Framing Hope Warehouse offers low-cost, high-quality materials to non-profit organizations by leveraging donations from local and national retailers through a partnership with Good 360. Monthly, The Salvation Army sends a team of 10 volunteers to The Framing Hope Warehouse, from 9 AM – 2 PM to unpack boxes and label items in preparation for sale.
-Employment Readiness Classroom Assistants: Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 2:30 PM. Assist with job readiness instruction in the Employment Services Program. Topics include: parenting, life skills, interview techniques and resume assistance. Present materials based on personal life experiences, employment backgrounds and/or school concentrations.
-Job Developer: Monday - Friday, 8 AM – 2:30 PM. Assist with job search and placement in the Employment Services Program. Individuals will work to create relationships with management, human resources and those involved in hiring entry-level positions.
Golden Age Center
-GAC Recruiter: Monday - Friday, 8 AM – 2:30 PM, recruit individuals, ages 50 years and older for Golden Age Center (GAC) membership. Volunteers will create and present a plan to increase membership.
-Activities Coordinator: Monday - Friday, 8 AM – 2:30 PM, creative volunteers needed to assist with activities in the Golden Age Center. Activities include but are not limited to bingo, field trips, arts & crafts and cards.
Emergency Family Assistance
-Case Manager: Monday - Friday, 8 AM – 4 PM, follow-up information on former clients. This position is highly confidential and is ideal for a retired human service worker or a student working toward a degree in that field.
-Sponsored Family Program: September – December, Monday - Friday, 8 AM – 2:30 PM, general office assistance and loading/unloading Christmas gifts
-Christmas Applications: October – December, Monday - Friday, 9 AM – 4 PM, process Christmas toy applications
Emergency Family Shelter
-Resident Assistants: Monday - Friday, 9 AM – 9 PM, assist in the day-to-day activities of the homeless family shelter. Opportunities are available to assist with childcare, laundry, office work, meal preparation, cleaning and decorating. Individuals are also needed for youth activities including tutoring, homework assistance and mentoring.
-Day Care Aide: Tuesdays, 630 PM – 730 PM. Volunteers needed to be child friendly and must handle a high volume energy crowd well. Manage a nursery filled with toys and games to organize play time with children. Age ranges from birth to adolescence. Eyes on children at all times and maintain accurate notes in the event of any emergency. Must pass a background check.
