Internships are an excellent way to help you apply what you learned in the classroom to real-world situations. They are also great resume builders that can start you off on the right foot after graduation by helping you land that first professional job.

Each year, hundreds of Canisius students participate in internships in Western New York, across the state, in other parts of the country and even in other parts of the world.  While some majors require internships as part of the curriculum which may be coordinated through the academic department, all students are encouraged to participate in at least one internship experience.

Internships are often taken for course credit.  Many students will register for more than one internship so they can experience a variety of work environments, hone their job interviewing skills and develop many networking contacts.  The amount of hours that you work during a semester-long internship will depend on the number of credit hours for which you register.  Faculty members, academic advisors, and the Career Center staff will help you find the appropriate setting that matches your interests and skills.
