Academic Policies: Summer Session
Students cannot be admitted to class unless their names appear on the class list or unless they present a class admittance slip.
Students are expected to attend all classes and laboratories. A reasonable number of absences may, however, be permitted by the individual professor. When a student's absences are excessive in number in the estimation of the professor, a grade of "FX" (failure due to excessive absences) will be automatically applied and the student will not be permitted to take the final examination.
A final examination will be scheduled for each course.
Grades are not mailed. Grades are available on the college website. If you need a grade report for tuition reimbursement or any other reason, please contact the Office of Student Records & Financial Services Center at 716-888-2600 or 1-800-238-8160 to a request a grade mailer.
Session I grade reports will be available online by the end of June.
Grade reports for the Session II will be available online by the end of August. No grade report will be communicated orally by the Office of Student Records & Financial Services.
Transcripts of Records
Students wishing transcripts of their records forwarded to another college or university for transfer of credit should make application in writing to the Office of Student Records & Financial Services a least one week before the transcript is needed. The official transcript will be sent directly to the institution to which transfer is desired, and is not issued to the student. No transcripts will be forwarded until all financial obligations to the college have been satisfied. There is no charge for transcripts. Download the transcript request form.
Drop & Add
Students may drop or add a course PRIOR TO the second class meeting. Students wishing to drop or add courses may do so online through the end of the drop/add period for each summer session. Registration permit forms to get approval to register in closed sections or to clear a registration error (pre-requisite, co-requisite, signature requirement) are available in the Student Records & Financial Services Office located in Bagen Hall, room 106.
Minimum Course Enrollment
The minimum enrollment for a summer course to run will be ten (10) students as of the Wednesday prior to the start of the session. Faculty in courses with less than four (4) students at the point will be given the option of offering the course on a tutorial basis or canceling the class. Student will be notified of the class cancellation by email at their Canisius College email address.
A student wishing to withdraw from a course must file a Course Withdrawal Form. These forms are available in the Office of Student Records & Financial Services, Bagen Hall room106.
Failure to file a course withdrawal form will mean that an automatic grade of FX (failure due to excessive absences) for undergraduate students and a grade of D for graduate students, will be entered on the student's permanent record.
Proper authorization for withdrawal from a course by the instructor and the dean and program director (MBA) will automatically result in a notation of "W" (withdrawal) for the course.
