Saying Goodbye
 |
As I sit here writing this entry, I am overwhelmed, not only with the fact that tomorrow will conclude classes of my first semester but also because as of tomorrow the only portion of the semester remaining will be my five final exams, packing my things, and saying goodbye to my buffalo home for the next month. Throughout the last four months I have learned, played, worked, and most grown accustomed to my daily class schedule, and work load. The week that lies ahead of me will inevitably be like none other, however I know that when it is over I am going to miss this Canisius a great deal.

I have found that the most common response to the statement “Ya, I am a freshman in college” is “There is no better year than your freshman year."
Looking ahead to the end of next week I will have completed half of my freshman year and it has been a semester like no other in my life. So many different aspects of life are accentuated as you enter into college, so many challenges met along the way, yet with each challenge there comes a greater reward. Throughout my first semester at Canisius, I have been truly challenged, yet in so many more ways I have been rewarded. I know have a true sense of independence, I adapted my work ethic, have massively improved my time management skills, and have learned overall to be a better student. However, more than just academically there is my feeling of growth as an individual throughout the last semester. I left Vermont alone, and now as I pack to leave Canisius for the next month I leave behind so many truly amazing friends, who I have grown so close to. For each one the scarifies I made, each one of the challenges I have encountered while at Canisius, have been complemented by the overwhelming sense of place I know feel.
