4-7-04    The Wonder of the Library

Hello, hello, hello…I’m back to write you another entry, my faithful minions. Now, as I stated before in a previous journal entry, I am a big procrastinator. Well the other week, I had a paper due and I needed a lot of outside sources so I decided I’d be a dork and go to the library for possibly the first time this year.

Now my first semester, I had a lot of courses that required very few reading assignments and when I did have a paper due, it was either on a book that I had read or material covered in class; never did I have to look up something for research!

So like any faithful student, I went to the Canisius library to see what I could find. Well after only my two hour stay there, I wish I would’ve gone to the library a long time ago. This one woman at the information desk was SUPER! polite and very helpful in finding me the encyclopedias I needed to conduct my research. Now I don’t know how many colleges have this, but the Canisius library has a wireless connection, meaning that no matter where you are in the library, you’d be able to hook up to the web from your laptop. Now, let’s say that you don’t have a laptop, like myself at that moment. (This is the cool part which I thought was sweet!) You can “rent” out a laptop to use around the library but only in exchange for your life! Naw, all you have to do is show them your Canisius ID card and that laptop is yours for approximately 4 hours! Now I don’t know about the majority of you but I could get a lot done in that 4 hour span that they gave me. In fact, I finished all I needed within 2 hours so I feel that they’re very gracious to us with that 4 hour period.

Needless to say that my library experience was first class and one of a kind. I have another research paper due in about 2 weeks and you’ll bet your rabbit that I’m going to go back to that library for some research and to use one of those cool laptops! Oh I almost forgot to mention…the library has to be the quietest place on the planet…you make a peep and someone from the other side of the library would probably hear you. That’s one good quality about our library, if you ever just need peace and quiet, you can go in there and just know that you have it.

Also, as a side note, there is a computer lab at the basement of the library that has a mad amount of Mac’s and Gateways for students’use also. So no matter if you bring a computer on campus or not, there will always be one ready for you to use. Well all this peace and quiet is making me drowsy so I think I’m going to lie my pretty head down for a loooong nap. Someone wake me up when college is over…

Your favorite college dork,
Dan Puccio
