I Can Show You The World...Oops, I Meant Canisius
(Sorry, guess I just like Aladdin!)

Hello to you all and in case you didn’t get the hint, my name is Dan! This year will be my 4th year writing journals to all of you lovely people, which I guess would make me a senior!!!
My senior year has been nothing less than stressful, jam packed busy, and of course the continuous moments of fun. I’m currently the Vice President of our Undergraduate Student Association or commonly known as the Student Senate. I have meetings almost every day with students, administration, and/or staff members and I have to say that I enjoy every second of it...well almost every second.

The Student Senate with Bob Saget! |
However, Student Senate is not the only thing that I do around campus. My major, as I’ve said in previous journals, is Adolescent Education with a concentration in History and Social Studies. This being my last year, it also comes with the biggest responsibility and time commitment out of any other year. This semester, I will be engaging in Pre-Student Teaching, which entitles me to be involved with at least 50 hours of class participation/observation. Now, these 50 hours of observation have to be somehow tied into my class schedule, Senate, and everything else that I do. I can guarantee you that it will not be an easy task in the slightest bit. Next semester will be slightly easier in light that all I will be doing is Student Teaching and will not have to register for any additional classes.

Helping freshmen move in during Welcome Weekend/Freshmen Move-In Day |
Now I’ll let you into another secret passion of mine...now shh, you can’t let anybody else know but I LOVE the sport of soccer. I play and coach soccer year round and just last semester I engaged in Intramural Soccer @ Canisius. However, my major focus is on coaching and I treat all of my players like they are my kids and love almost every second of my job. I do this completely on a volunteer basis and it is truly rewarding when you see the smiles on the kids faces.
I think the major reason for this addition in my entry is to encourage you to get involved in something that may be rewarding in some aspect of your life. In High School, they forced us to do voluntary service and I can remember hating it. Now in college, I love doing it. Whether it’s going to

Canisius College Quad - In Rememberance of September 11th |
So if you’re wondering what to expect out of college life, I can give you a few suggestions. College is what you make out of it. Helpful, huh? I mean that statement in many very different ways. If you are someone who wants to get involved with school like myself, you can be that person. If you wish to just stay in your room and play video games and not really talk to a lot of people, you can do that. If you want to meet as may people as you possibly can so that you’re the cool one on campus, you can do that also. In High School, we’re all restricted into certain clichés and really have no way out of it. In college, we all have a bright, new start. We can shape ourselves into the person that we want to be. It’s almost as if you are allowed to be born again and pick for yourself who you want to be. I’ve stayed close with many friends from High School, especially two of my best guy friends. However, friendships that I’ve made in College and all the people that I have met has been a truly great experience.
I could write a whole journal about friendships and relationships while in college but I’ll spare you all my sentimental advice and opinions. I’ll save my next journal for much better things. If you want to ask me any questions about Canisius, please feel free to e-mail me at Pucciod@canisius.edu I’ve had a few responses in my 4 years of doing this but it isn’t enough! E-MAIL ME NOW! Otherwise, everybody have a great rest of September and I’ll see you all in October!
Later Gators,
