12-2003 My First Semester at Canisius
As you have read from my little bio, I’m a pretty busy guy and I’m always on the go. Going to Canisius has only added to the craziness of my schedule. In the middle of my senior year of high school, I tried out for the Canisius music scholarship (vocal) and won! Yay me! Now I take part in the Canisius Chorale and I can say that I’ve been having a lot of fun in just chorale only at Canisius. The friends that I have made just through Chorale have been wonderful. You also get to do things that I would’ve never been able to do, especially while I was in high school.
First of all, on October 1st we sang with the BPO, which I thought was really cool. Not only did we sing with the BPO, but we also had JoAnn Falleta as our conductor and she is one of the most famous women around the Western New York region.
Now, when I first started attending Canisius at the start of this year, my goal was to get involved as much as I can because the partying life isn’t for me and it’s not what I wanted. So I started joining clubs. Eventually I found out I was joining too much and wearing myself really, really thin.

Here I am (bottom left) horsing around with friends at the CSA Christmas party. |
Eventually I settled down with one club and my new home, CSA – Commuter Student Association -- and with just my luck they had a vacant spot open for secretary so I decided to run and Surprise! I won. Now, through CSA I have met people that are totally amazing and rock. Our president, Pete Burakowski, is the craziest kid (besides myself) that I know and he always knows the best way to do things…I hate how he’s always right.
Also, in mid-October we did a sleep out in the Quad for the homeless and I was all over that one because it sounded like a lot of fun. Well, not only was it a lot of fun, but I met even more people (Frisch 3 baby!) and I made one friendship that I’m sure will last a lifetime. The time between classes is awesome because you can meet with friends and just chill or go out for lunch.
Overall, Canisius has been really good for me this year. It is everything that I have come to expect and love. If I had to make the choice again, I wouldn’t go anywhere else. All the faculty and staff at Canisius are so nice and they’re always willing to help you. Last week, Student Activities Secretary Elaine bought me Tylenol because I was sick. C’mon how much nicer can you get!
Well that’s it for now. Peace out everyone and you’ll be hearing from me very soon! Happy Holidays to you and everybody that you love. God bless all of you.
