Doji Modjinou West Africa Pre-Med Major

I came to Canisius because it has been very highly recommended for its strong Biology/Pre-Med program.  When I started as a freshman in fall 2001, it was not easy for me being away from my native country of Togo (West Africa).  The people I met on campus soon made me feel at home.  The whole Canisius community embraced me.  I am thankful for the faculty who gave me one-on-one attention for my academic needs in small classes as well as during their office hours.  When I need help with juggling life outside of the classroom, I can always count on offices such as the International Students Program to help me.

My experience here has been amazing and beyond my imagination!  I wish I could bring my friends and family members here so they could also have access to the great academic experience I have been enjoying at Canisius College.

Canisius is the place for international students to be!

Great experiences, new friends, a lot of traveling … key words describing my time at Canisius.

I really enjoy Canisius although students’ lives differ a lot from Germany, where I am from.  When I arrived at Canisius I immediately felt like I was part of a big family.  People are open-minded, care about you and your problems, everybody offers help and so many people welcome you that you can hardly remember all the names.  I really like the friendliness you meet all over the campus.

This semester is one of the most valuable experiences in my life, and I hope I can keep all my friendships when I go home.

I am an international student from Nairobi Kenya.  When I first arrived in the U.S. to look for a university, I visited a number of them.  Many were too big and impersonal, others were too small and not accredited, but Canisius fit the bill perfectly.  The Canisius faculty is wonderful, the campus has a very friendly environment, and there's always someone around willing to help you out.  I also found that the success of Canisius alumni was proof of the quality of education offered here.

I graduated with honors in May 2003 with a bachelor of science in management information systems, worked for a year and when the time came for me to go to grad school, it was pretty obvious where to go … I'm back at Canisius, happy and looking forward to another great year.

Time spent at Canisius College changed my life.  I met friends from all over the world, studied a variety of subjects with thoughtful professors, and had amazing experiences.  I have never imagined I could enjoy learning as much as I have. 

Canisius is definitely my second home!
