Only a Few Weeks Left of Freedom

To quote the Grateful Dead, "summer time done ... come and gone ... my oh my!"  The end of summer means that it is now senior year.  Knowing that many exciting things await me following graduation, I’d rather focus on the here and now and enjoy my last year.  I thought the best way to prepare for the year would be to head home for a week or so and refuel the tanks.  My plan worked perfectly and I had some time to relax with my family and friends back home.

When I got to Binghamton I had five things on my agenda:  eat a ton, play music, go kayaking, play golf and just catch up on things with everyone.  I can proudly say that I was able to accomplish all of the goals on my list.  My sister and her boyfriend, “The Dude” just moved themselves into a new house.  It’s a nice place and for a huge upside, it has a basement.  Now we have a nice place to play our music.  There’s also tons of room for me to crash on the couch.  We got to jam a few times and played pretty well.

Playing golf was also a lot of fun.  My good buddy that goes to Oneonta is just taking up the game so we played a couple different courses.  I think golf is a great way to relax, especially with all of the beautiful scenery that upstate New York has to offer.  I got a new set of woods right before coming back to Buffalo.  So far I’ve only gotten to swing them at a driving range but I’m hoping to play over the weekend.

I was also glad to have the time to read a couple of books.  I like to read but it is hard to find the time during the semester so I try to do as much of it as I can when I get the chance.

Catching-up on a good book!

One of the best parts of going home is always the home cooking.  I stayed well fed the whole time I was there and I even got to bring leftovers back to Buffalo.

By the time I got back on campus everybody else was back too.  It is nice seeing the quad full again.  Well, that’s the end of the journaling for me.  Maybe if you visit the admissions office, you’ll see me playing my bongos or something.  Best of luck!
