July 2007
Only a Few Weeks Left of Freedom

Hello!  July has certainly been a busy month.  The best news is that I am all done with my summer classes and have a month of rest to enjoy before the fall semester begins.  This isn’t to say that I haven’t been having fun all summer, but it will be nice to not have to worry about homework for a few weeks.

The month got off to a fast start.  June 30th was my roommate James’ birthday so we decided to go out to Akron, NY to our friend Kyle’s house and camp out in his back yard.  I didn’t have a real tent, so rigged one out of a tarp, a trampoline and a few branches.  Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures of it but I can assure you that it was fully functional.  The next day we went to Akron Park and wandered around for a few hours.  We found some underground caves and went inside but we couldn’t see anything because it was too dark.

The next weekend was the Taste of Buffalo.  It was a lot of fun.  I gave a tour in the morning on Saturday and then spent the rest of the weekend at the Taste enjoying all of the different foods and live music.

Back home jamming in my garage.

Probably the most exciting thing that I have done recently was go back home for a weekend and play some music with my sister Sara and her boyfriend Jamey.  As you can tell by the pictures, we got to rock out for a while.  It is always a highlight for me to get to go home and see my family and friends and play music.  I actually brought my drum kit back to Buffalo with me.  I am really excited to get to play my drums on a daily basis for the first time since coming to college.

Jamey and me rockin' out!

We ended the month with a bang as well.  This past Friday we went to a Buffalo Bison’s baseball game.  It was the first one that I have gone to this season and we had a great time.  We stayed after the game to watch the fireworks and finish our drinks, but it turned out that we stayed a little bit too long.  While leaving we noticed that all of the lights were turned off and we soon realized that the gates were locked and we were trapped inside the stadium.  It took some effort, but we were able to climb over the gates and catch the subway back to campus.  That certainly makes for an interesting story that I should be able to tell for a while.

Well July was great, but here’s to an even better August.  You’ll hear from me soon.  Until then… peace.
