The Greatest Month of All, Part 1
Yes, it’s here, the greatest month of all; for various reasons, like Thanksgiving and a break for the students, but mainly because it’s my b-day. My roommates and I have been trying to spice up our suite. It’s kind of late, but we wanted to make it home-like. We had a TV, but the room just seemed so dull. We added some posters, sheets for the couch, and Ben even added a guitar and piano to our arsenal of interior decorating. I learned how to play the piano on my own back at home using my brother’s electric piano, so it reminds of those days where I would just practice and download sheets of the Internet. Enough about that, let’s get to the good stuff.
Not too much has happened since last time, but enough has. My RA, Joe (who I believe is the BEST RA in Canisius history), the female RA, Lindsay, Ben and I went to Pizza Hut for dinner. It was a fun drive over and even a better once we were sitting down and eating. My roommates and I also had our night out. Before we set out, though, we just had to have some ice cream down at Street Side. It’s about the best thing ever to just go down there, pick your flavor (different every time with a variety to choose from), charge it on flex and enjoy the sweet, delicious taste of that ice cream. We went and saw Saw IV at a Regal movie theatre around Elmwood Ave., a real commercial street here in Buffalo. It has lots to offer and you can pretty much find any store you want on that street. It was the suite and the girlfriends, those who had girlfriends, that went along for the ride. We returned to hear that the Sabres lost another one. I guess everything doesn’t end well all the time.
With the mass of work classes are assigning, I managed to squeeze in one more event. One Republic, a band that holds the #1 song in the country, “Apologize”, came and performed here at Canisius. It was held in Montante Cultural Center where many performing arts events are held. All we had to do was pick up our tickets early and be there 30 minutes before the show for free admission. That was no problem at all. It was pretty cool to see a live performance, especially since I never attended a concert or a just a performance of a large known band or artiest. You’d think being from NYC would help, but I personally never got the chance. It was similar to when D.L Hughley did a stand up in the Koessler Athletic Center (KAC) along with Malik S., another great comedian. It’s what makes Canisius so great. Not only do you receive a great education but you also get to enjoy some perks along the way and that never hurt anybody.

Well that about wraps up this portion of November. I’ll be heading to NY soon, but before I do, I hope to attend some games since the basketball season here at Canisius started. I’m a member of C-Block, a group that cheers on the athletic teams here at Canisius. No we don’t cheerlead, that’s a separate thing, we just bring the noise while watching from the stands to intimidate the opposing team. Wendy’s also recently sponsored C-Block so we now get free Wendy’s before game. Isn’t that just great? People get together, make signs, practice cheers, and attend games just to root for Canisius. It’s great for the athletes here at Canisius and just fun for us. Just remember one thing when attending games, “BE BOLD, WEAR GOLD!”
