The Greatest Month of All, Part 2
Ah, Thanksgiving break. Such a good time I had. Let me first start off with C-Block though, since that’s where I left off last time.
The game was good and people had lots of energy, but despite that, we lost to Colgate. I got there a little late due to work, but since I work at KAC, I was able to get in right away. I hope to watch many more games though and hopefully take pictures of the wild C-Block kids. There was still a lot of stuff going on before the break.
Game Fusion threw another night of fun. It was called the Fusion Gaming Night. They had games from Nintendo to the 360. It was truly a trip down memory lane for me. Goldeneye was my favorite there. My cousins and I would end the New Year with that game to see who was best. They had Guitar Hero 3 running in the corner and Halo 3 on the big screen. It was truly a night just to enjoy and hang out. The Fusion guys did a great job.
It wasn’t only all fun and games. Down at Street Side, there was poetry night. Anyone could’ve gone and displayed some of their work. It wasn’t only poetry, but more of a night for art, a true form of expression. I personally had something written up, but was too scared to go for it. Something I need to get over, but I heard people really got to know each other well because of it. Other than that it’s just been testing and studying around here, which is why break came at a perfect time!
It was an eight-hour ride for me from a bus provided by UB for only $90. It’s good to have connections. I had to request to stay one night here at Canisius since my bus left at 9am the day after Residence Halls closed. It was a simple procedure too. You just log into the secure Canisius server and write a statement on why you need to stay. You’ll get an email notice along with a door message replying to your request. Well anyways, I was off in a bus filled with UB students and some of my high school friends. Two stops along the way to get some food and a bathroom in the back were all we needed. In a bit I was in the city, jam-packed with people just like I remembered it. I couldn’t even get on my Bx9 bus and sit comfortably. Even after seeing me with two huge bags, some genius decides to sit next to me. It was on to the train from there. I arrive in Manhattan and greet my fellow ex-coworkers at Domino’s Pizza. I went home to surprise my parents and it couldn’t have gone better. They were totally shocked as I opened their bedroom door at the same moment my dad decided to leave. They were completely fooled. To my surprise, however, I find a big screen TV in my room. It would’ve been so nice if I could’ve taken it back with me. I eventually settled for a good home cook meal and I was off to bed. The next day was Thanksgiving.

It was just a great day. My family got together, just like they used to. I missed the times where my family would call each other for a huge meal. It was recently only the immediate families spending Thanksgiving together, so this was a good change. My brother and cousin put on quite a show with their production of music. They have gotten better since I left and it’s truly great to hear the sound of their work filling the house again. I truly felt at home at that moment. We celebrated mine and my cousin’s birthday. He just turned 20 and I, 18. That was basically all of Thanksgiving Day. The next day my cousin celebrated our birthdays by going out at night. The next day, I saw one of my best friends from high school who chose not to come to Buffalo. We went to Patsy’s Pizza, actually the 2
nd best pizza store in New York City. It’s funny because my father has been taking me there since I was seven years old. The pizza is just so great. Afterwards we went to see Hitman. It wasn’t too bad.

Then I was on my way back here to Canisius to study for the finals coming up. Everyone is now just locked up in his or her room or at the library studying while still getting his or her work done. Hopefully I’ll head to Milkshakes before the semester is over. There’s some stuff happening here at Canisius like Kickin' It Old School, where you dress up like your favorite decade from the 60s-90s. If I have time, I’ll head to that, but I most likely check out the Simpson’s Movie. We’re lucky enough to be able to watch movies that aren’t out on DVD just in case we missed it in the theatres. Again, it’s free, my favorite part. Well I’ll keep you guys up to date. Later.
