CRUNCH TIME!
December 2007
So here I am, heading back to NYC. These past couple weeks, I think, define who you are as a college student. A lot has happened since my last entry and it’s what my high school economics teacher defines as, “CRUNCH TIME”. But first, let me get back to the start.
With my return from the Thanksgiving break, I brought my Wii along with me so I can enjoy it with my roommates. It’s really fun because they get to create little characters of themselves called Miis that surprisingly look like the person being created. Now let me take you out of my own personal dorm experience and tell you what Canisius is doing. They threw a Christmas at the Quad party that has a karaoke machine to Christmas carols. You get together with some friends and celebrate a mini Christmas with them. Those who did Secret Santa presented their gifts on that day. It’s really fun and it’s like celebrating Christmas twice. Despite all the fun students are having there are those who have already begun the torturous studying of the Finals.
Yes, it’s that time of year to spend 2/3 of your day studying, while the other 1/3 is to sleep, at least for some. I personally spent an entire night studying for back-to-back exams and finally took a nap at 2 the next day. It’s harsh and hard, but it’s got to be done. I mean even with all my regular studying and all the work completed for class, it’s almost like a requirement to study and end the semester with a bang. When the roommates and I needed to keep our sanity, instead of heading out for a night of fun, we just got together and played the game of GLOBAL DOMINATION… yes the board game RISK. After that though, it’s back to studying. One morning however, Buffalonians got what they wanted. Why? I have no idea.
It began to snow. And when I say snow, I mean SNOW. Back in NYC, there are moments where it snows really badly, but usually it just snows and gets wet really fast. It turns to slush and it’s just terrible. Here however, it gets high really fast. Thank goodness for the tunnels. My roommates who are from Buffalo actually love the snow. They looked through the window that morning and they were ecstatic to see the snow. It’s funny to see college students still play in the snow and super excited about it. People are constantly telling you to grow up, but sometimes we just like to act like kids.
Well my last night out with my roommates was yesterday, and we all went to Cold Stone. I never heard of this store and I’m not too sure if it’s in New York City. Whether or not it is, Cold Stone is absolutely great. It’s just an ice cream store with a whole bunch of flavors and the really cool thing about it is that you can add candy to it. I got me a chocolate ice cream with Kit Kat mixed inside. It was delicious. We got kind of lost on the way back and it was pretty funny.
Today was my last Finals, Math, and I felt pretty confident. Didn’t stop me from studying last night though. Now, here I am, on the train with some Buffalo State friends. The great thing about this trip is that the Shuttle provided me with my transportation to the train. The voyage to the train isn’t a walk in park so the Shuttle was very convenient especially when the weather decides to pour down inches of snow the day I leave. I mean it was hard getting from Bosch to Frisch circle where the shuttle was picking Canisius travelers up. Ah, snow, you’re pretty but harsh. Well I’m off to NYC; I’ll keep you updated with my happenings there.
