7-1-04  Summer Fun in Buffalo

Hello Everyone!

I hope all of you are enjoying your summer.  I chose to stay in Buffalo and live at Canisius this summer so I can learn more about the city, meet new people, and expand my range of opportunities.  Don’t get me wrong --  I miss and love home. However, I just came to a point in my life where I wanted to have a different summer job besides the one I’ve been working at for the past three summers.  I wanted to surround myself with different people and continue making a life on my own.  By living at Canisius I am able to do all of this.

Currently I work through the Residence Life office as a summer RA, have a part time job at the mall, and I’m continuing my work-study job at Admissions.  Yeah, it is definitely a busy summer but there is always time for fun!  This summer there are about 120 students living on campus all for different reasons.  Students stay on campus for many school related reasons, such as paint crew, orientation staff, RA staff, athletics, summer school, and for internship opportunities.

This summer our on campus theme is Summer Fun in Buffalo.  As a Resident

Assistant, part of my job is to help inform my residents about different events in the city, as well as cool places to visit.  So far my summer has been an absolute blast because there is so much to do.  Buffalo offers something for everyone in the summer, including Shakespeare in the park, drive-in movies, four malls, Thursday in the square, beaches, numerous festivals, plus on campus events hosted by Campus Ministry and Residence Life.  Buffalo in the summer is a guaranteed good time.  I highly recommend you and your family come and visit Buffalo, and check out Canisius while you’re here!

he heads out to see Shakespeare in the Park.
