Revisiting Childhood

In college life it is often difficult to find time to relax and just have fun.  You are always writing papers or studying for exams.  At least that’s how it can seem sometimes which is why it is important to take a break every now and then so you don’t become over stressed.  So when I heard about a trip to the local amusement park, Six Flags Darien Lake, I decided I would go.  A few of my friends were going and I hadn’t been to a real amusement park in ages.

It was during Fright Fest, so they had a lot of people walking around in costumes trying to scare you.  They just made me laugh though, especially this one guy who keep following us.  He must have thought that he could scare me even though I was cracking up, I don’t know.  But it was very amusing.  I got to go on a bunch of roller coasters and best of all there were practically no lines because there were so few people there.  My favorite was probably Superman, which went over the lake and through the fog (from the haunted graveyard).  I had only been on the one at home once and I had forgotten how great it was.  I also liked the Boomerang, which went backwards and forwards.  It was steep at first and it felt like I was going to fall out, but the ride was great.  We convinced our friend, who hadn’t been on a roller coaster since she was in 7th grade to go on one.  Unfortunately, it was the old wooden roller coaster called the Predator, which was extremely bumpy and tossed you around a lot.  She didn’t mind it too much, but she wouldn’t go on any other roller coasters that night.

My friend Phil and I at Fright Fest!

And of course we had to do something “halloweeny” because it was Fright Fest.  So we went through a haunted house, which was pretty cool.  There were these guys in camouflage who keep popping out of no where right in front of you.  They also had one of those tunnels that spins so it feels like you’re walking on the spinning room (not a very good description sorry).  Before we left we also played some of the carnival games, which I love but very rarely got to play.  I won a stuffed bird in a fishing game.  I was very proud (granted you couldn’t lose, but still).  We also visited the candy shop and we all got candy.  All in all, it felt like a little trip back in time to my childhood and I enjoyed it very much.

Dev and I looking for some fun :)
