August 2005 Moving In
It’s been a long and exciting day so far. I got up earlier than I would have liked so that I would be ready to move into my new dorm room at nine o’clock. When I got there I was surprised to find that my roommate Juliette was already completely moved in. Turns out she’s on the softball team, so she had to move in earlier in the week.
I live in Eastwood, the brand new residence halls and I have a bathroom suite so I really have two other roommates other than Juliette. Their names are Shannon and Lindsay. I am proud to say that all of my roommates are nice, and I can tell that I’m going to enjoy living with them. It took a surprisingly short time to move in or at least get all of my many belongings in the room. When they say that they can have you moved in by a half an hour they aren’t kidding. It took us one trip up to get everything to my room because we had literally six other people helping us. And I was shocked by how much room I actually had in my room. It is much bigger than my old room at home and there are plenty of places to put all of my stuff.
My roommate Juliette, I was pleased to learn, also shares many of my interests including, most importantly, my love of reading fantasy books, along with softball, volleyball, and music. I can tell that my freshman year at Canisius is going to be lots of fun!
