Hi everyone! My name is Nikki Ferraro and I'm a freshman here at Canisius College. I'm from Long Island and absolutely LOVING Buffalo so far! During my senior year at Hauppauge High School I was doing tons of "school shopping", and Canisius was actually the last school I had visited. When my mom mentioned Buffalo, I immediately thought of cows and farmland so I said no way! Luckily my mom forced me to visit, and could you imagine that I fell in love as soon as I reached campus?!?! So now I'm here in a Bosch suite with 3 other amazing girls and it feels like home already. All my roommates live fairly close to campus and could easily drive home for the wekend, but I'm not so lucky. I could drive home for 9 hours, or take a flight for 50 minutes... I'm sure I'll be flying! This first month has been difficult leaving my family, friends and boyfriend at home, but it's a new experience I'll need to get used to.

My schedule and teachers are great, and the workload isn't unbearable as of now... so let's hope that continues! I just recently attended try-outs for Canisius College Cheerleading, and made the squad!! This is soo exciting for me! Parent’s weekend had just passed and it was so nice to see the faces of my mom, dad and little brother (who is now 15 and not so little anymore). This weekend coming up will also be great because IT’S MY BIRTHDAY!! I will finally be 18!! I’m so lucky that my birthday falls on a 4 day weekend, and it’s my high school homecoming! Not too homesick, but still longing to see the faces of my loved ones has been a little hard, but with the great people that I’ve met, I’m starting to make my own family away from home!

P.S… I’ll be filling you in on my upcoming trip to Canada to see Wicked with my amazing roommates on the third week of October! Definitely try to get in on that if you have a chance. What a great month!!!
