A Look Back at My Summer
Hey ya’ll!
I’m so happy to be back at Canisius for my sophomore year! I had an amazing summer and created some memories that I’ll have for the rest of my life. I hope you did too!
Being away from my friends and family for so long made me realize how truly important they are in my life. I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Cancun with my mother, father, and brother for the Fourth of July. We all had such a fabulous time! My brother and I went jet skiing together and it was so scary, yet so fun at the same time! He had such a great time that he made some friends from the resort and went a few more times! As a family we went on a speed boating and snorkeling tour which was incredible. Once we reached our destination we jumped into the beautiful, blue water, coral abundant sea where the fish swam right up to us! And of course no vacation would be complete without eating the finest foods along with days of relaxing and catching some sun. It was an unforgettable vacation.

I also caught up with all my friends. Some I hadn’t seen in a while but once we were together it was as if we were never apart. It’s wonderful to see all of our lives changing right in front of our eyes. Thinking back to when we were in elementary school, we’re all becoming so mature and directed to a positive future. My best friend D’Ana is attending ODU on a NAVY ROTC scholarship and for the first time this summer my best friends and I saw her in her uniform. It brought tears to our eyes, but not sad tears, they were more of pride. My other best friend Jamie took a year off of school to work and figure out what direction she wanted to take. She is now enrolled in a beauty school program and hopes that by the end of this year she will be done with school and will have her career lined up. My other best friend Rachel attends FIT in good ol’ New York City and is really focusing on school while maintaining a job at our favorite restaurant Chevy’s! Through all of our busy schedules we managed to see each other quite a few times a week, especially to make frequent trips into NYC, which is our all-time favorite night spot.

Between living the fabulous life of a vacation to Cancun and hanging out with my best of friends, I did have a job. It was my fourth summer at Ivy League Day Camp as a counselor and I decided to give myself a challenge. I decided to work with 2, 3 and 4 year old boys and girls for an entire day, five days a week. I knew it would be difficult and tiring, not to mention the diaper changes, but I was up for anything. All-in-all I had a great time and was so sad when the summer came to an end. Although I anticipated this summer to be more difficult, it ended up being the most rewarding and I plan to do the same next summer.

I am really looking forward to an excellent year... I’ll keep ya posted!
