From London, to Buffalo, to Boston, and back again...

Having just returned from a semester in Canisius’ study abroad program in London, England, I was anxious to get back into swing of all things Buffalo.  I had more than enjoyed my time in Europe, but now I wanted to immerse myself in everything “hometown” and one of the first things on my agenda was Thursday at the Square.

Drawing large crowds to Lafayette Square in downtown Buffalo, Thursday at the Square is a free concert series held every Thursday night throughout the summer and provides patrons with a chance to socialize while listening to live music.  It is almost impossible to go to the Square on a Thursday night and not run into old friends, and even walk away with new ones.  My expectations of a good time were definitely met as I made my first trek of the year to the Square to see Augustana, a band whose song Boston currently holds a spot on the Top 40 chart.

As I fell asleep that night, I knew that in the morning I would be getting up to do just what the headline song had said – “go to Boston.”  One of my best friends now lives in Boston, although I met her when she was a senior and I was a freshman at Canisius.  She currently attends grad school at Boston College, and her boyfriend, who also went to Canisius, just graduated from Harvard with his Masters.  The two of them had come back to visit Buffalo about a month ago, but since I was in London, I had not gotten to see them, and so would be making up for that now.

We spent the weekend exploring Boston.  My friend, Jenn, and I stayed up two nights in a row catching up, and her boyfriend joined us during the days to attend the Cambridge River Festival and to relax on the bank of the Charles River.

The weekend went by quickly, but we all had a blast.  And I have to say traveling from London, England, to Buffalo, New York, to Boston, Massachusetts, and back to Buffalo again, it was a whirlwind couple of weeks, but some that I would not trade for the world!
