It is about that time of the year that juniors, like me, begin to look into what will happen after graduation. Recently, I started taking an MCAT review course. The MCAT is a standardized test required to get into medical school (kind of like the SAT is needed for college). It is because of this course that I have really realized the benefits of coming to Canisius for my undergraduate career.
When I was looking into colleges as a junior in high school, a lot of people told that Canisius was such a good school and has a really good reputation for getting students aspiring to be doctors into medical schools. As I researched, I found the basis for what people were telling me. Now that I am a student getting ready to apply to medical schools, I cannot help but appreciate what a good science program Canisius has and the help that is given to students looking for a future in medical, dental, pharmacy, or optometry school.

Not only is this class accessible and conducive to learning, it also functions as a review course because I have already taken the necessary courses on which the MCAT tests. This means that students have all of the necessary materials if they choose not to take the review class and prepare for the MCAT independently.
Canisius has a good reputation for getting students into medical schools. Many people may tell you that the small class sizes, courses taught solely by professors (instead of teacher’s assistants), and research opportunities are to account for this. Though, believe me, these things can help prepare you for getting into medical school, they are not the only reason. It is because Canisius is willing to go the extra mile to help students be successful that it has such a good reputation for getting students into medical school.
