September 2005 First Week of Classes
Hey everyone!
Scotty A. here back with another update of the current events that are going on here at Canisius. First, why don’t we talk about the first week of classes through the eyes of a freshman?
I guess the feeling is somewhat similar to that of the first day of high school. I was a little nervous and a touch apprehensive. My high school graduating class was only 210 while the incoming freshman at Canisius is up around 800. As I walked to my first class through the quad, the amount of people that passed by me made me appreciate the change from high school to college. Luckily for me, all my classes are located in Old Main so at least I knew I wouldn’t get lost.
I’m sure you all have heard horror stories of the terrible professors that have a thick accent so you can’t understand anything they are saying but this couldn’t be further from the truth here at Canisius. Every one of my professors was nice, good-natured and spoke clear English! Although some of my classes I find boring, I guess that is the same as with any year of school.
The 10 hours of homework that each high school student believes to be true in college is only true if you let it be. By this, I mean that if you do your homework before its due instead of leaving it to the last minute, then you’d be surprised with the amount of free time that you have. I’ll admit that I’m a champion procrastinator and I am already guilty of it but I still haven’t had to pull an “all-nighter.”
Well, that’s it for me this week. But stay tuned for another action packed (sort of), exciting journal entry from yours truly….Don’t worry, I promise the next one will be more exciting. I did include some pictures though of my dorm room and the Demske Sports Complex for fun!
