Canisius College offers advanced high school seniors the opportunity to get a taste of college life and earn college credits before high school graduation.  The Canisius College High School Senior Program is a great opportunity for the high school student who has made significant progress in a particular subject area and is looking for the next challenge.

The program allows qualifying students to register for one or two college courses per academic semester based on space availability.   Classes are taken on the Canisius campus in regular classrooms with current college students.  Standard tuition is reduced by 50%, which means high school students would pay $406 per credit hour for the 2009 – 2010 academic year.  Students must have a minimum of a “B” high school average (or a high school GPA of at least 3.0).

Application requirements:
  • Recommendation letter from a guidance counselor
  • Official high school transcript
  • Completed application
Application Deadline:  August 15 for the fall semester; December 15 for the spring semester.

A unique aspect of this program is that all applicants receive personal, one-on-one advisement about course selection from the Canisius College Director of Academic Advisement. Appropriate courses include college freshman level courses which have no pre-requisites.  Some higher level language courses may be suitable if approved by the Director of Academic Advisement.  Students receive an official transcript, and the courses are acceptable for credit at Canisius and other colleges.
