Buffalo is rich in arts and entertainment, sports and recreation opportunities.  The city and region supports the interests of people of all ages and backgrounds.  It’s distinct and historic neighborhoods, including Hamlin Park, Allentown and the Delaware District boast scenic parks, unique shopping and diverse restaurants.
Whether you’re in town for the afternoon or are spending a long weekend, taking a trip off campus will enhance your visit. The following is a short list of area attractions you can get to in less than 20 minutes.

Albright Knox Art Gallery – One of the country’s oldest public arts organizations. The collection includes works by Picasso, Matisse and Miro. This fall, the gallery marks it’s special relationship with abstract art with Extreme Abstraction.

The Buffalo Zoo – Third oldest zoo in the nation.  Located in a corner of Frederick Law Olmstead’s Delaware Park, the zoo recently debuted Sea Lion Cove. The new exhibit mirrors the natural habitat of the California Sea Lion. 

Darwin D. Martin House – Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, arguably the preeminent designer of the 20th century. The site is currently under an ambitious restoration slated to end in summer 2006. Tours are available now.

Shea’s Performing Arts Center – In the heart of Buffalo’s vibrant theater district. Shea’s features touring Broadway musicals, first run plays and concerts. Upcoming productions include My Fair Lady, Hairspray and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Underground Railroad Tour – The path of fugitive slaves to Canada. Tours begin at the Buffalo Niagara Visitor Center at the Market Arcade, 617 Main St. and can be arranged through Motherland Connextions.
