The 2013 MAAC Championships are right around the corner and tickets are on sale now. This year’s MAAC Basketball Championships are being held March 7-11 in the Birthplace of Basketball, Springfield, MA, at the MassMutual Center. An alumni reception will be held at Champion’s in the Marriott on Saturday, March 9, at a time to be determined based on the game schedule. Appetizers and soft drinks will be provided. For the third consecutive year, a team of Canisius College finance students won first place at the Western New York Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Institute Research Challenge. Hosted this year by Canisius College, the CFA Institute Research Challenge is a competition between university-sponsored teams that research a designated publicly-traded company, prepare a written report on that select company and then present their findings to a panel of judges. The competition tests the analytic, valuation, reporting writing and presentation skills of university students. Read more.
Six Canisius students were backstage when the “BON JOVI Because We Can – The Tour” came to Buffalo’s First Niagara Arena on Sunday, February 24. In the spirit of their commitment to community, the band opened their 2013 tour production to local college students through the Bon Jovi “Because We Can” Community Service College Campaign. All alumni are invited to join the campus ministry office for the annual Alumni Service and Immersion Program in New Orleans from Monday, May 20 - Sunday, May 26, 2013. Since 2007, a group of Canisius alumni and staff have journeyed to New Orleans each year for a week of service and solidarity with marginalized people who are still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. While there has been great progress made in the rebuilding efforts, there is still more to be done. Learn more.
