Alumni Awards & Honors

Each year, the Canisius Alumni Association recognizes students, faculty and alumni leaders for outstanding career achievement, scholarship, service to the college and community with various honors and awards. DiGamma Honor Society

Please note that this nomination form is only for alumni, faculty and staff. DiGamma Honor Society inducts up to eight alumni members, and two faculty and administrator members annually at a dinner in late Winter or early Spring. Inductees consist of alumni, faculty and administrators who have distinguished themselves by working for the advancement of the college. The 2014 nominations deadline is August 12, 2013.

Distinguished Alumni

These awards are given to alumni who have distinguished themselves in their careers. Up to six awards may be presented per year. The awards are presented annually at a dinner in late Fall. 2011 nominations are over. See a list of the college's past recipients. The deadline for 2013 nominations is March 26, 2013.

Distinguished Faculty

The Distinguished Faculty Award recognizes outstanding full-time faculty members of the college who are distinguished for contributions to the academic world and teaching excellence. One award may be given per year. The Distinguished Faculty Award is presented at the Honors Convocation in April. See a list of the college's past recipients. The deadline for 2013 nominations is January 22, 2013.

Distinguished Senior

The Distinguished Senior Award is presented to seniors who have distinguished themselves through academic excellence and leadership roles at the college. Up to three awards may be given per year. The Distinguished Senior Awards are presented at the Honors Convocation in April. The deadline for 2013 nominations is January 22, 2013.

LaSalle Medal

The LaSalle Medal is presented to outstanding alumni who have made substantial contributions to advance the interests of the college. Up to two awards may be given per year. The LaSalle Medal is presented at undergraduate Commencement exercises in May. The deadline for 2013 nominations is January 22, 2013.

Peter Canisius Medal

The Peter Canisius Medal is awarded periodically to an outstanding individual in the community who has made substantial contributions to the educational, spiritual, social, cultural and intellectual advancement of mankind; and one whose career and achievements constitute a challenge and inspiration to American youth.

Sports Hall of Fame

The Sports Hall of Fame honors former outstanding varsity athletes of the college who competed in intercollegiate athletics, as well as persons who have made outstanding contributions to Canisius athletics in a non-playing capacity. Up to eight awards may be presented per year. The awards are presented each Spring during half-time of a men’s basketball game. View a complete list of past honorees.
