The 50th Annual Canisius College Golden Jubilee Regents Ball will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo.
The Regents Ball provides a wonderful opportunity to honor individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Western New York while also raising vital funds for the Board of Regents Scholarship Endowed Fund. The Fund allows deserving students to stay the course to personal and professional success despite financial challenges. Since its inception, it has awarded approximately $750,000 to 35 Canisius students. Thanks to the support of alumni and friends like you, last year’s sell-out event raised a record $159,000 and we are anticipating another big crowd this year!
At this year’s event, The Board of Regents will honor Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker with the 2016 Distinguished Citizen Award. Dedecker is the President and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, where she works to carry out the organization’s mission of connecting people, ideas and resources to improve the lives of Western New Yorkers. She has founded and led numerous initiatives including a collaboration to establish the Family Justice Center of Erie County for victims of domestic violence, the Western New York Women’s Fund and Latinas United for Progressive Action. She is a founding member of the Literacy Funders Network and collaborated with the Margaret L. Wendt and John R. Oishei foundations to establish Read to Succeed Buffalo, a school-readiness program designed to combat illiteracy in Buffalo.
