Explanation of Transition Timeline
The Office of Alumni Relations (OAR) will facilitate the election and transition of the members of the chapter leadership committees. OAR will send all leadership committee members the above-listed timeline for their information.
On January 3, the OAR will announce all open positions on the leadership committees (president, vice-president, secretary, committee members) and a list of internally-generated committee member prospects. At the same time, the OAR will request nominations from all leadership committee members. These nominations will be selected from the above-mentioned prospect list and personal recommendations from the committee members.
On February 15, approximately two weeks before the nomination deadline, the OAR will send a reminder to all committee members to submit their nominations by February 28.
After the deadline, the OAR will gather all nominations and submit them to the leadership committees on March 14. The leadership committees will have a month and a half to review the nominations and call meetings to discuss the candidates.
During the week of May 1, the leadership committees will hold meetings to elect new officers and committee members.
On May 15, the OAR will announce the new leadership committees and contact each new member to inform them of their status. The incumbents’ terms will end on May 31 and the new terms will begin on June 1 to coincide with the fiscal year.
*A simple majority will elect all officer and committee member candidates.
