Rev. J. Clayton Murray, S.J., who served as professor and later as archivist at Canisius College, compiled a scrapbook of newspaper articles with reference to servicemen with Canisius connections. In the list of " Honored Dead" often the letters "J" "M" and "ex" will be found following a serviceman's name. These refer to the month of graduation, "June" or "March" and the abbreviation, "ex" indicating the year of expected graduation.
