Learn Outside the Classroom

Athletic Training & Sports Medicine students gain valuable real world experience through clinical assignments and internships.  Athletic training majors work with the college's 16 athletic teams and many off-campus sites including the following:

  • The Buffalo Bills
  • SUNY at Buffalo
  • Buffalo State College
  • Sweet Home High School
  • Erie Community College
  • St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute
  • The Knee Center of WNY
  • Amherst High School
  • Nichols School
  • Canisius High School

Hands-on experience in an off-campus setting gives students an advantage in the job market.  They often make connections that lead to future employment.

Athletic Training Club

Students studying the Athletic Training curriculum will have opportunities to work on improving their clinical experiences as well as realize the opportunity to attend national conferences.

Faculty Research

Athletic Training majors at Canisius benefit from the chance to participate in faculty research. Not only do they collect data, some have also presented at regional and national National Athletic Trainers Association conferences.
