
BYLAWS STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY COMMITTEE CANISIUS COLLEGE
ARTICLE I NAME The name of this organization shall be the Canisius College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
ARTICLE II OBJECTIVE To promote Canisius College's athletic program and maintain an active social involvement at the College and community level, as well as enhance each individual student-athlete's experience.
ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP Section 1 Membership is restricted to student-athletes actively participating in a varsity sport. Section 2 Selected representatives should have at least one (1) year of experience with his/her individual sport, to be able to benefit our institution's SAAC. (Student-Athletes are not permitted to be on the board until their sophomore year).
Section 3 The club will not discriminate on bases of race or religion.
ARTICLE IV OFFICE Section 1 The officers of the Canisius College SAAC shall be a president, vice-president, a secretary and a treasurer elected from the board members at the end of the preceding year.
This board shall be made of two (2) athletes from each sport.
Section 2
The officers shall be elected by the board and will serve for one (1) year.
Section 3 All officers shall keep a GPA of 2.0 of higher.
ARTICLE V MEETINGS The officers of this committee shall meet as needed. The complete board will meet on a monthly basis.
ARTICLE VI ATHLETIC STAFF Athletic Director shall be part of the board with the right of veto and voting power only if the decisions directly involve the Athletic Department.
ARTICLE VII AMENDMENTS Section 1 Amendments to this constitution may be made by at least 2/3 of the votes of all SAAC members.
Section 2 It may also be amended by the advisor and Athletic Director along with an unanimous decision of all active board members.
ARTICLE VIII PRIVILEGES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF CLUB MEMBERS Section 1 Only members in good standing shall be able to attend meetings and social functions of the committee.
Section 2 Each member is expected to maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Section 3 SAAC members are allowed two (2) excused absences from meetings, more absences will result with a replacement from his/her team; missed meetings from games or class does not count against him/her.
Section 4 Since one of the objectives of the SAAC is to maintain an active social organization at the community level, it is the responsibility of each member to attend at least two (2) community service functions per year.
