The Imaging Center at Canisius College was established in the Biology Department in 1998, with funding generously provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) and Canisius College. The instrumentation and software of the Imaging Center comprise an image analysis system designed to provide for the capture, processing and analysis of digital images taken from living or fixed cells, using a variety of light microscopy and fluorescence microscopy techniques. The Imaging Center supports student projects in a number of cellular and molecular biology courses, including Biology 445 - Cellular Imaging, as well as both student and faculty research projects. Images generated in association with student and faculty projects are posted to this web site and updated periodically.
The Howard Hughes Medical Institute is a nonprofit medical research organization that employs hundreds of leading biomedical scientists working at the forefront of their fields.
