My favorite biological phenomenon: Phenotypic plasticity. It’s always fascinated me how a single genotype can produce extremely different phenotypes (in traits such as morphology and behavior) in response to different environmental conditions.

My favorite aspect of teaching: I love to both challenge and be challenged by students during the learning process.

Why I chose Biology: I love learning how everything works in the natural world, through using a reductionist approach and applying it holistically.

My hobbies: Horseback riding, skiing, playing piano.

My source of inspiration: My grandfather. He built a log cabin where we would spend our summers. We collected any type of critters we could find in the forest or in the creek. This sparked my interest in natural history and biology, which lead me to pursue a career in this field.
