My favorite biological phenomenon: Convergent evolution! I love it when we can uncover two separate phylogenetic lines that have independently developed the similar adaptations to similar challenges.
My favorite aspects of teaching: Games! I love to engage students in competitive games based upon biological phenomena. The students want to win the game so they struggle to master the material. I call it “teaching without teaching.”
Why I chose Biology: It is the story of Life on Earth. Duh! What could be cooler than that?!!
My hobbies: Photography, travel, canoeing.
My source of inspiration: My students! I love the energy and enthusiasm of young people.
