Animal behavior minors enjoy exciting opportunities to assist faculty with research or participate in internships at local zoos and aquariums.  Competition for careers associated with animals is fairly intense and there are usually more applicants than there are positions.  The extensive laboratory exercises associated with our program are strong preparation for this competition.  Another important element is the opportunity for practicum or independent study experiences.

Students can serve as apprentice zookeepers at the nearby zoo or aquarium.

They may assist in ongoing research.

Or they can customize projects of their own.

Please note however that eligibility for these experiences depends in part upon the availability of positions at host institutions.  A student must also gain faculty sponsorship by excelling in appropriate background courses and by demonstrating prerequisite work habits, demeanor and reliability.  Interested students should consult Dr. Noonan for details.
