Buffalo contains a rich and historical blend of art, culture, entertainment, shopping, and recreation.  Many city parks and buildings were designed by some of our country's foremost architects and landscape artists including Frank Lloyd Wright, H.H. Richardson, Louis Sullivan and Frederick Law Olmsted.

Canisius students are connected to small boutiques, funky art galleries, and professional sporting events and concerts via the Metro Rail rapid transit system.  There are two rail stations, each two blocks away from campus center, and a bus stop on nearly every corner of the city’s main streets.

Buffalo is also easy to navigate on foot or by car.  Unlike other large metropolitan areas, Buffalo boasts hassle free highways and ample parking.  The Zoo, Albright Knox Art Gallery and the bustling business district on Hertel Avenue in north Buffalo are all within walking distance.

Downtown Buffalo, a mecca for sports fans, theater buffs and nightlife enthusiasts, is minutes from campus.  The Buffalo Sabres will dust off their uniforms, following the 15 month league shutdown, for regular season play at HSBC Arena this fall.  And spring will see the return of Triple A baseball’s Buffalo Bisons to Dunn Tire Park.  The Theater District is where you will find the best in Broadway musicals and touring shows at Shea's Performing Arts Center and drama and comedy at Studio Arena or the Alleyway Theatre.  Dance and comedy clubs, intimate cocktail lounges and boisterous sports bars are all a part of the vibrant nightlife scene on Chippewa Street.

Buffalo is known for its friendly and welcoming people.  We celebrate the ethnic and cultural diversity of our neighbors with a number of annual heritage festivals, which are held throughout the city and suburbs.

Perhaps our best kept secret, though, is our weather.  Buffalo celebrates each of the four seasons like no place else.  We enjoy more sun and less rain than other major northeastern cities.  And Buffalo isn’t even the snowiest city in the state!

The quality of life in Buffalo enhances the Canisius experience and is why so many of our students stay after graduation.
