Effective Board Member Management
How many times have you said, “My job would be so much easier if I just didn’t have to deal with my board!” All too often executive directors of nonprofits view their boards as a necessary evil. They look upon their boards as an incompetent group of competent people. Many believe that boards will always stumble from rubber-stamping to meddling and back again. If you feel your board is stuck in this mode, it’s time to take a good look at the situation and make some changes. A successful board is a victory…not a gift. It takes a lot of hard work to build and continue to energize an effective board, but it well worth the effort. This workshop is designed to take a look at some common problems facing boards of nonprofit organizations and look some ways of being more effective leaders of our boards.
