As illustrated by the figure below, lighting accounts for the majority of energy usage in Old Main. Canisius could decrease its energy costs for Old Main by turning off lights in rooms not in use and by using lower watt bulbs.
As illustrated by the chart below, the highest period of electrical usage is between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. for Churchill Tower, and between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. for Bagen Hall. To greatly reduce energy consumption in these buildings, Canisius faculty and staff can:
• Decrease electrical light usage
• Utilize natural light sources
