The Burrito Project provides fresh home-made burritos to Buffalo’s poor and homeless population in downtown Buffalo. We walk a 4 mile route and serve between 80-120 burritos (a support vehicle follows the street team as we walk). Our route includes stopping at an AA meeting, the bus station, a couple of half-way houses, various pocket parks, and an overnight drop-in center for the homeless. Our evening concludes with a brief reflection session.
The Burrito Project and Canisius College Campus Ministry is committed to providing a calm and caring environment in which to serve the needs of the poor and homeless in downtown Buffalo. We meet each person with respect and compassion, and in the spirit of Jesus. The Burrito Project is a ministry to some of the most vulnerable and forgotten of our society..
On the fourth Tuesday of each month (1/24, 2/28/, 3/27, and 4/24.), we prepare burritos in the undercroft of our chapel from 5:30-6:30 p.m. We walk the 4 mile route from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. One can opt to help prepare the burritos and walk the route, prepare only, or walk only.
