Learning Goals and Objectives finalized on August 17, 2010
Goal 1: Ignatian Spirituality
Canisius students will demonstrate knowledge of a mature Catholic Jesuit spirituality via interaction with others in a variety of situations.
Students will participate in small and large group spirituality building exercises such as retreats, faith communities, service immersion activities, and communal worship.
Obj. 2: Spiritual direction
Students will receive and integrate spiritual direction and reflection in their lives.
Obj. 3: Liturgy
Students will participate in the formation of and practice of liturgy.
Canisius students will be inculcated in the methods of spiritual formation including praying, worshipping, reflecting, and experiencing the Spiritual Exercises.
Students will incorporate their personal spirituality with that of their community.
Obj. 2: Prayer, discernment, and action
Students will demonstrate the ability to balance prayerful consideration with concerted action.
Canisius students will identify with communities of people in need and with those living in solidarity with those in need.
Students will participate in service activities intended to assist communities of need.
Obj. 2: Reflection
Students will reflect on their actions in a thorough and thoughtful way in light of their faith.
Obj. 3: Analysis
Students will analyze the conditions they have experience in order to understand the root causes of these realities.
Canisius students will grow in solidarity with the earth and its people and each work to ameliorate conditions of social injustice both locally and globally.
Students will identify instances of social injustice throughout the world.
Obj. 2: Formation of a "well-educated solidarity"
Students will gain the necessary knowledge of instances of social injustice.
Obj. 3: Collaboration
Students will act in solidarity with others who seek justice.
Canisius students will become the kind of leaders in church and society who embody a faith that does justice for all.
Obj. 1: Ascension to positions of leadership
Students will become active leaders in their communities.
Obj. 2: Magis
Students will embody the Jesuit trait of Magis in their role of fulfilling their chosen vocations throughout their lives.
