We return around 11 p.m. We are looking forward to sharing the day with you!

IGNATIAN WEEKEND
An Introduction to Prayer and Meditation
Dates TBA
FEE: $45
In the Sixteenth Century, Ignatius of Loyola had a powerful conversion experience and learned to discover God in his prayer and meditation. Excited by his experience, he found himself called to start the Jesuits. He shared his wisdom and experience in a little manual for making retreats called The Spiritual Exercises. This retreat is an opportunity to learn about and experience some of what Ignatius taught. Out of this experience you will learn to be open to hear God in your heart and to respond to God in your life.

Three special things will happen over this weekend to help your spiritual growth:
  • Each person will meet individually with a spiritual director or guide to talk about themselves and their spiritual life and to discern directions for further growth.
  • Everyone will be blessed by restful time away from school and an atmosphere of rest and quiet. Silence is expected during most of the day.
  • All the retreatants and directors meet together for meals and evening prayer and discussion.
*Please bring: comfortable clothes, warm outerwear, bible, journal (or one will be provided).
*Please do not bring: music, books (other than spiritual), magazines, school work and other distractions.

MEN'S SPIRITUALITY RETREAT
TBA
FEE: $25, students; $50, affiliates
The weekend is focused on reflection on discussion. It will touch on ideas such as relationships, personal identity, a man's role in today's society, and exploration of being a man for others. Throughout the retreat you will be able to hear from others about their personal journeys while taking time to contemplate and reflect on your own goals and ambitions. This is a perfect opportunity to get away and meet other students, faculty, and friends!

Meet outside the student center ramp at 3:00pm on Friday. All meals including dinner on Friday will be included. We will be returning to Canisius Saturday evening.

WOMEN'S SPIRITUALITY RETREAT
TBA
FEE: $25, students; $50, affiliates
This overnight experience, open to all the women of Canisius College and the women in their lives, is an opportunity to share spirit, tradition, and prayer.  Using rituals from various traditions, sharing the wisdom of the retreatants and enjoying humor and relaxation together will heighten our awareness of the wonder of our womanhood and our spiritual lives.

The theme for this year’s retreat is taken from Anne Morrow Lindbergh’s book, Gift from the Sea. We’ll look at ways to reconcile our most personal needs with obligations to family, friends, lovers, school, and work and ways to separate loneliness from replenishing solitude, and ways to find solace in the simplest of daily tasks.  We will use these themes as a spiritual compass to guide us toward inner peace in the face of life’s deeper questions.

The retreat will be held in the Center of Renewal in Lewiston from 4 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday. Carpooling from campus will be arranged.

PRE-MED RETREAT
TBA
FEE: $10

This one day retreat will give students the opportunity to reflect on the option of a career in medicine and the joys and challenges it poses to personal and family life. We will be joined by current medical students who can share their experiences of medical school so far. Additionally, multiple physicians will be in attendance to shed some light on their respective fields and how being a physician has shaped their life. This promises to be a great day of insight for those thinking about taking such a huge step in their professional lives. The retreat will take place right on campus and freshmen through seniors are welcomed!
