community service

Campus Ministry at Canisius College has a wide offering of service programs for the college community to become involved.  If you have a desire to do service Campus Ministry will match you with one of our community partners.  We have many long standing relationships with community partners both near and far.

Here are some simple points to ponder to assist with discernment:

  • What am I looking for in a community service experience?
  • How often do I wish to commit to the service?  How does this fit with my schedule?
  • What type of service or population(s) do I wish to serve or have in mind?  e.g. meal programs or soup kitchen, refugees, children, seniors, people living with HIV and AIDS or people that are homeless, tutoring programs.
  • What gifts and talents do I have?  What are the needs of the world and how may I use my gifts to help?
  • How does my sense of spirituality or faith in God enter into the decision to serve others?
  • Does this support my career goals and help me develop in the person I may wish to become.

Campus Ministers are available to help you throughout this process. Please feel free to stop by Campus Ministry in Old Main 207 to learn more about the many service options available.
