Gabrielle R. Paoletti ’09

Student, All-College Honors Program

Gabrielle R. Paoletti ’09 is fascinated by the mathematical constructions of Markov chains but what intrigues this math and economics major most are the possibilities that lie ahead for her.

An All-College Honors student, Paoletti thrives on intellectual challenges and “loves to be proven wrong.” Her intellectual thirst extends outside the classroom, where she participates in social and civic activities, including Math Club, the pre-law fraternity Phi Alpha Delta, and the Canisius College Chorale. As a resident assistant, Paoletti builds a strong community atmosphere for students, while she hones her leadership skills.

But it is Paoletti’s strong Christian values that help her realize the Jesuit ideal of using one’s gifts for the service of others.

An accomplished pianist, Paoletti performs at Canisius events and also in the community, where she is music director at Clarence Center United Methodist Church. She shares her knowledge of quantitative numbers as an assistant in the college’s Tutoring Center. As part of the All- College Honors Program, Paoletti coordinates service projects for Habitat for Humanity. As a Winter Service Week volunteer, she mentors and tutors at-risk children in New York City.

Now, as a proud admissions ambassador for Canisius, Paoletti shares her intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth with prospective new students.

“One of the reasons I chose Canisius is because Canisius educates the whole person. You learn to think critically but you also learn who you are and who you want to become. The faculty are interested in students as individuals. They are interested in what students want to do with their lives and how students can ensure there is value in it. I know now that I don’t want to graduate from Canisius and just ‘get a job.’ I want to help and educate people. I want to make a difference.”
