Griffins After Dark (GAD) Grant Guidelines
The GAD Grant offers recognized student clubs/organizations the opportunity to apply for funds for late night programming.  Student clubs/organizations may apply for up to $300.00 in co-sponsorship for their program.  Funding will be decided upon by representatives from the office of Campus Programming & Leadership Development.

Griffins After Dark will support programming which takes place Friday & Saturday evenings, generally between the hours of 11pm - 1am (event times may vary by special request).  Events may not end before 1am.  Fundraisers or events that seek to make a profit will not be considered for a GAD Grant.

To receive a GAD Grant, programs must meet the following criteria:
1. The event must be sponsored by a recognized student club/organization.  Recognition is granted by the Undergraduate Student Association (USA).
2. Applications for funding must be submitted by the published deadline.  Your application will not be considered if your application is submitted late.  Please click here for an application.  Applications for the spring 2012 semester are due by 5:00pm on Friday, November 11, 2011. 
3. Events must be free and open to all current Canisius College students and appeal to a broad range of the Canisius community.
4. All events must be non-alcoholic.
5. Up to two programs per week may receive a GAD Grant.  Groups that appear to be proposing similar events in the same semester may not be approved for funding immediately.  Those groups will be contacted individually and encouraged to collaborate. 
6. All organizations receiving a GAD Grant must have 75% of the Executive Board members attend the event and fill out the Post Event Evaluation within 48 hours of the conclusion of the program.  Funds will not be transferred until the Evaluation is complete.
7. Club planners must make themselves available to meet with the Graduate Assistants assigned to the event at least two times prior to the actual event for planning purposes.
8. The Griffins After Dark logo must appear on all event publicity.
9. Events must be consistent with policies outlined in the Canisius College Community Standards.

Role of CPLD in the Griffins After Dark event:
1. Two Graduate Assistants will be assigned to each Griffins After Dark program to help in the planning and implementation of the event.
2. Advertisement of the event including flyers, Stall Street Journal and Griffin Table Talk ads, and inclusion on the CPLD Facebook page and Twitter feed.
3. Shopping for the event at Sams Club, Walmart, and/or Wegmans.
4. Review and approve all contracts related to the GAD.

Role of club/organization in the Griffins After Dark event:
1. Being available to meet with the Graduate Assistant assigned to your event at least two times prior to the actual event for planning purposes.
2. The club must supply a shopping list for items to be purchased at Sams Club, Walmart, and/or Wegmans no later than two weeks prior to the event to the CPLD office.
3. Arranging shopping trips for any items needed from stores other than Sams Club, Walmart, and/or Wegmans.
4. At least 75% of the Executive Board must be present at the event.
5. Any advertisements outside of the flyers, Stall Street Journal and Griffin Table Talk ads.  Posters for the Dining Hall and tunnels are the responsibility of the sponsoring club/organization and must be submitted to CPLD no later than two weeks prior to the event.

Grant Approval Notification
The contact person listed on the GAD Grant Application will receive and e-mail from the office of Campus Programming & Leadership Development indicating whether or not GAD Grant funding has been awarded to the event.  If there are questions about the event the contact person will be contacted via e-mail.  Grant award e-mails will be sent no later than seven business days after the application deadline. 

Use of Funds
GAD Grant funding may be used for food, decorations, door prizes, game prizes, and to pay contracted entertainers.  Funds may not be used to compensate club members.

Transferring of Funds
All organizations receiving a GAD Grant must fill out the Post Event Evaluation within 48 hours of the conclusion of the program.  Funds will not be transferred until the Evaluation is complete.

GAD Scheduling
Priority for dates will be given on a first-come,first-scheduled basis.
