At Canisius College we are men and women for others.  What better way to live our mission than by selflessly donating our own hair for a good cause.  By donating your hair or raising money for either Locks of Love or Goin' Bald for Bucks you can make a difference in the life of a person in need.

Locks of Love
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

Goin' Bald for Bucks
Goin' Bald for Bucks is a fundraiser for Roswell Park Cancer Institute, a research hospital located in Buffalo, New York. The objective of Bald for Bucks is multifaceted. Not only is a great deal of money raised to help fight cancer through research and treatment, the hope is that cancer victims who lose their hair due to treatment will draw strength from the actions of the participants in this worthwhile event. Family members who have had to "sit by" while a loved one undergoes difficult treatments of chemotherapy and radiation therapy are given a way to participate.  A sense of accomplishment and dedication is achieved by those who participate.
