The Canisius College Cheerleaders are a highly visible and enthusiastic athletic group on campus. Our primary purpose is to support Intercollegiate Athletics and serve as ambassadors by appearing at Canisius College functions and community events.
This energetic group of athletes consists of 22 Women and 4 Men. These athletes cheer at home men and women's basketball games.
Cheerleaders must be full time students at Canisius College pursuing an undergraduate degree. High school seniors are eligible to tryout in the fall of their freshman year. All members must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA while at Canisius College.
The Canisius College Cheerleaders spend many hours a week practicing, conditioning, fundraising, and bonding. With the additon to basketball games, the team actively participates in competitions throughout the area. Each summer the team travels to Boston, MA to attend the National Cheerleader's Association Collegiate Summer Camp. The team also has the opportunity to attend the MAAC and the NCAA tournaments to cheer on the Golden Griffins basketball teams.
