Off Campus research opportunities

There are many opportunities for undergraduates to conduct summer research at large universities, research hospitals, national labs, and chemical or pharmaceutical companies. The programs listed below grant students from smaller colleges access to programs with state-of-the art instrumentation and labs in exciting research environments.

In addition, many agencies and companies offer internships that don't involve laboratory research but may be of interest to some Chemistry and Biochemistry majors. These might include experience in business or marketing at a company or working as an intern at a government agency.

Please note that many of these programs are very competitive and often offer stipends and summer housing. Some have deadlines as early as December or January for positions the following summer. Make sure that you ask your professors for application advice and for letters of recommendation well in advance.
