Department Expands Lab SpaceWork is almost completed on an expanded web lab and new print lab on the third floor of Lyons Hall.The web lab in Lyons 325 includes several new computer stations. Morgan Calhoun, our multi-media specialist, spends a number of hours each week in this lab assisting students with their work. Connected to the lab, in Lyons 328, students will find a cutting table, light box, work table, printers, and mounting materials to utilize for their print projects.
Video Institute in High Gear
The Canisius College Video Institute, under the direction of Barbara Irwin, PhD has produced videos for a number of community service/humanitarian agencies in Buffalo and Western New York. A 30-minute documentary, HeartStrings: The Guitars for Hope Story, produced to benefit Kelly for Kids, the Hunter’s Hope Foundation and WNED aired on WNED-TV and ThinkBright in July. It recently won third place at the Lancaster Film Festival. Another project, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Rowing Boathouse, had its Canisius premiere in September. Work on a number of other projects is currently under way.
The Video Institute is funded in part by a grant from the John R. Oishei Foundation.
New Name for Graduate Program
Our graduate program has a new name and expanded offerings.Students enrolled in the MS program in Communication and Leadership are able to concentrate in Organizational Leadership, Integrated Marketing Communications, and Not-for-Profit Management.Rosanne Hartman, PhD serves as director and teaches exclusively in the program.
